  • What Vehicles are Supported?
  • For Fords, most 1986-Now are supported. Click here to see what Ford vehicles are supported on the "Pre-Loaded" Tuners: Pre-Loaded Vehicles List. If your vehicle is not on this list then it can most likely be Custom Tuned. Click here: Support List or Contact us to verify.
  • For GMs, most 1999-Now are supported. To see specific models check here: Support List or send us an email. We will let you know if we can tune it, and if not then we can tell you if there is hope to tune it in the future.
  • For Dodge/Chrysler I can tune most of the popular vehicles from 1996-2006. Email me with what you've got and what modifications and I'll let you know what I can do and we can discuss a special deal on price. I can pretty much guarantee that I will beat any other price out there.

  • What is the Difference between Pre-Loaded Tunes and Custom Tunes?
  • "Pre-Loaded" or "Canned" Tunes are pre-set tunes designed by SCT to cover stock through slightly modified vehicles. They are designed to give a noticable difference in performance. An MPT Custom Tune is a tune designed from start to finish for your Exact Vehicle, the Fuel You are Using, the Modifications you have, and the Performance you Desire! From the best gas mileage possible to the most power period, a Custom Tune from MPT can get it done.

  • Where is My PCM Located?
  • The best method to finding your PCM Code aka Strategy aka Box Code etc is to read it with an SCT Programmer. This link will give you instructions on how to read the strategy as well as where to locate the pcm if you don't have a programmer handy. PCM LOCATION

  • Will a Custom Tune Void my warranty? What if I go in for Warranty Work?
  • No it will not. First of all, when you tune your car the SCT Tuner stores the stock file onto the device. So when you are going to go in for Warranty work you can return the computer to stock settings. In order to deny any warranty repair the dealership has to prove without a doubt that the Programmer was the cause of the damage. We can thank the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act for this.

  • I just put a Turbo/SuperCharger on, Do I need a Custom Tune?
  • Absolutely!!! In fact, it's not safe to drive if you have added forced induction or a change of injectors. You need a tune, even if you are driving a short distance to go to a dyno. At least get a "pre-tune" that you can use to drive safely.

  • I want Nitrous, Do I need a Custom Tune?
  • Absolutely!!! With a Nitrous Setup the timing has to be retarded so you don't blow up your Engine.

  • My Vehicle is Stock, will a Tune still help me?
  • Definitely! Even completly stock vehicles can benifit greatly from an MPT Tune. To give you an example of potential gains look at this sheet: Pre-Loaded Vehicles List. These are all based on Stock Calibrations. Diesel's can gain 110-160 HP! and a ton of Torque. Look at the list, it's insane.

  • How Much of a Gain in MPGs can I expect?
  • On most vehicles up to 10% is easy, Some applications go way beyond that. Check out this Excel Spreadsheet to see how much money you could be saving with a custom tune. MPT Gas Savings

  • What difference does Octane make?
  • The Octane that is in the vehicle is very important. Aftermarket tunes are based off of specfic octanes, the higher grade the octane the more aggressive the tune can be. This means that the higher octane will make more power; on this note higher octane fuels when tuned properly also have the ability to get the best gas mileage.

  • Can I use a Custom Tune from a different octane than is in the vehicle?
  • You always want to use the octane that the tune was built for. If you are running 87 octane in the vehicle and program the vehicle with a 93 octane tune this may cause engine pinging and decrease performance. On the other hand, if you are running 93 octane in the vehicle and program the vehicle with an 87 octane tune you are simply missing out on the power and fuel economy benifits of a 93 octane tune.

  • My Country has 91 RON, 95 RON, and 98 RON fuel; is this the same as 91 US Octane and 93 US Octane?
  • No, these are not the same. 91 RON is similar to 87 US Octane. 95 RON is similar to 91 US Octane. 98 RON is a little better than 93 US Octane. When filling out the custom tune form, you'll see RON selections for fuel type. Select the Fuel that you use and we will adjust the tune accordingly.
