The best way to determine the PCM Code or Strategy is by using an SCT programmer to read it. So we'll go over that first. • For the Livewire: Plug in the Livewire to the vehicle's OBD2 port, go to the Check Engine menu, scroll the wheel to Read Strategy. Press the wheel and turn key on when prompted. • For the X3/SF3: Plug in the X3/SF3 to the vehicle's OBD2 port, go to the Vehicle Info menu, once there select another vehicle info. Turn key on when prompted. • For the Old X3/SF3: (Serial Number's start with X3) Plug in the X3/SF3 to the vehicle's OBD2 port, go to Device Info, select Read Strategy. Turn key on when prompted. If you do not have a programmer yet, you'll need to find the PCM and read the sticker. You are looking for a combination of letters and numbers in Bold. Older vehicles will have 3 digits, while later vehicles will have 4 digits. In most 2000 and newer vehicles it will be on a small white sticker located in the passenger side door jam at the height of the dash. Older vehicles you will have to locate the actual PCM and read it off of a sticker on the PCM, the connector or the back of the computer. Here is a little guide to help you locate the PCM if needed.
