Ah the changes with software and the hoops we have to jump through to get stuff to work. This may no longer be needed, but if you are trying to get Vista to work with Non-Vista designed software. I'm talking any, not just MPT related. Try this process out.

FIRST YOU NEED TO DISABLE USER ACCOUNTS CONTROL (UAC):
  • Click on Start, and then click on Control Panel, once in the Control Panel, Click on Classic View in the top left.
  • Next Locate and Click on USER ACCOUNTS in the list, It is an ICON OF TWO PEOPLE.
  • At the Bottom of the list you will see “TURN USER ACCOUNT CONTROL ON OR OFF” Click on this.
  • You will receive a POP UP BOX, Asking for Permission to Continue. Click Continue or Allow.
  • Within the User Accounts Menu, we Need to Un-Check the Box Next to: “Use User Accounts Control (UAC) to help protect your computer”
  • Then Click OK and then Click Yes to Restart Your Computer.
  • Now that (UAC) is disabled and the Computer has ReBooted. Go to the folder of the Application we are working on.
  • C:\Program Files\SCT\”PROGRAM NAME”
For Example, if you are Setting up Advantage to work with Vista, You will be going to C:\Program Files\SCT\Advantage III\
    SETUP FILE PROPERTIES
  • Once in the Folder, Right Click in the White Space and Hit View / Details.
  • Sort the Folder by Type, We need to find all of the Application Files.
  • Right click on the first Application File, and hit Properties.
  • Once in Properties, Click on the Compatibility Tab at the top.
  • Check “Run the Program in Compatibility Mode” – For Windows XP SP2
  • Also Place a Check Mark in Disable Desktop Composition.
  • Repeat the SETUP FILE PROPERTIES Process for All APPLICATION FILES of the Program you are setting up to run with Vista.
  • NOTE: AS FAR AS I KNOW, THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH 64 BIT VISTA.
