How to Read Strategy on SCT Tuner

"How do I read the strategy?" "Where do I find my PCM code?" "How do I get my ECU strategy code?"


PCM Strategy (also known as the ECU Strategy) code is a required field for the MPT Tune Form. The sticker on the PCM is not reliable for making tunes because of how often Ford updates the pcm without updating the sticker. Below, you will find the instructions on how to read strategy using SCT Tuners.

Select the tuner being used:


SCT X4 - 7015

  • Connect X4 to vehicle's OBDII port and select the "Vehicle Info
  • Turn key on when prompted
  • Select Continue after turning key on
  • ECU Strategy will be listed (Scrolling down may be needed)
  1. Plug SCT X4 into vehicle's OBDII port to power it on
  2. Use down button to highlight Vehicle Info and press the center button

  3. When instructed, turn to the on position without starting vehicle. This will be the position where the radio and windows will work, but vehicle is not running
    SCT X4 Power On

  4. With key on, select "Continue"

  5. Vehicle Info screen will be displayed. Scroll down to locate ECU Strategy. Code will be displayed under itECU Strategy

SCT Livewire TS+ - 5015P

  • Connect Livewire TS to vehicle's OBDII port and select the "Vehicle Info" menu
  • Turn key on when prompted
  • Select Continue after turning key on
  • ECU Strategy will be listed (Scrolling down may be needed)
  1. Plug SCT Livewire TS into vehicle's OBDII port to power it on
  2. Swipe right to reach third screen

  3. Select "Vehicle Info" by tapping on it once

  4. When instructed, turn to the on position without starting the vehicle. This will be the position where the radio and windows will work, but vehicle is not running
    Turn Key On
  5. With key on, select "Continue"
  6. Vehicle Info screen will be displayed. Scroll down to locate ECU Strategy. Code will be displayed under it

SCT BDX/Rev-X - 40490/40470AM

  • Connect BDX/Rev-X to vehicle's OBDII port and select the "Vehicle Info" menu
  • Turn key on when prompted
  • Select Continue after turning key on
  • ECU Strategy will be listed (Scrolling down may be needed)

 

  1. Plug SCT BDX/Rev-X into vehicle's OBDII port to power it on
  2. Use down button to highlight Vehicle Info and press the center button

SCT X3/SF3 - 3015/3000 

  • Connect X3/SF3 to vehicle's OBDII port and select the "Vehicle Info" menu
  • Select "Vehicle Info" on next screen.
  • Turn key on when prompted
  • Press Select to continue after turning key on
  • VIN and Comm will display, press select for Strategy.

 

  1. Plug SCT X3/SF3 into vehicle's OBDII port to power it on
  2. Use right button to highlight Vehicle Info and press the select button

  3. Highlight Vehicle Info on following screen as well and press select button

  4. When instructed, turn to the on position without starting the vehicle. This will be the position where the radio and windows will work, but vehicle is not running

  5. With key on, press select to continue
  6. Vehicle Info screen will be displayed. VIN and Comm will display, press select for Strategy.
