Q: Why is there no filter extension? and it looks like there are support posts to hold the filter at stock height? The oil is hottest ontop and I'm not seeing an advantage to this pan not picking it up down low where oil is cooled
A: Speaking with AFE directly on your question and concern, they stated that they do supply an extension for older model vehicles. The new models do not require one, as the filters reach lower. They also stated that in regards to the temperature of the fluid, the difference between the upper and lower portions of the pan would be very small.
Q: What are the 4 posts in the pan? They supposed to hold the filter in place so it doesn't fall I'm guessing?
A: Here are the instructions with more info, hope this helps: https://afepower.com/media/catalog/product/files/pdpfiles/0/6/06-80600_46-70170_72_ford_f-150_trucks_09-16_6r80_ins.pdf
