What is an MPT Tune and why do I need one?
It's no lie that an SCT programmer works, it's been proven time and time again. We've dyno tested the preloaded SCT tunes and are almost always happy with the increased power over stock. Sometimes though, it's not enough. Sometimes you want a more refined tune. That's where MPT comes in, we've spent 1000's of hours on our in-house dyno developing our MPT tunes. We've taken our own personal trucks to the drag strip and raced them. We daily drive our trucks in order to know the truck inside and out. This knowledge has helped us develop tunes that are purpose built with results that will surprise you.

I'm not good with computers... How does the process work? How do I get my MPT tunes?

Step 1 is to decide how many MPT tunes you want and make your purchase.
Step 2 is fill out the MPT tune form, link will be in your order confirmation email. It is here as well: MPT Tune Form
Step 3 is receive your tunes via email. MPT will build the tunes per your request on the tune form. They are delivered via email along with important info on how to load and use them.

What can an MPT Tune do for your 2009-10 Ford F150 5.4:

MPT Tune On-Device Adjustable Options:
When the MPT tunes are being loaded onto the vehicle, there are options for the user. The list below reflects available options that the user has to tweak the tune beyond what MPT has already set. Adjustable options will over-write the MPT Tune.

Idle Speed Neutral (rpm)	Sets the base rpm that the vehicle will attempt to idle at before temperature and time based multipliers.
Neutral Rev Limit (rpm)	Sets the rev limit while in park or neutral.
Axle Ratio	Sets the axle ratio for the vehicle. This must match the physical specs of the rear diff. Corrects speedometer after physical change and also aids in correction shifting.
Tire Size	Sets the tire size aka tire revs per mile for the vehicle. This must match the physical specs of the tire. Corrects speedometer after physical change and also aids in correction shifting. Online tire revs per mile calculators can be used to assist in determining this value if the manufacturer does not provide it.

Please note: It is More Power Tuning's (MPT) policy not to manufacture, offer for sale, sell, convey, or otherwise transfer any product, including Handheld Devices, Pre-Loaded Tunes, or Calibrations that contain features to bypass, defeat or render inoperative the following: EGR, Rear Oxygen Sensors, SCR, DPF, NAC, DOC, or any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) associated with these emission controls. Products/Calibrations shall retain the full operation and functionality of the On Board Diagnostic System (OBD), will continue to satisfy emissions requirements, such as meeting standards within useful life or maintaining emissions performance outside useful life. MPT does not support modifications that remove or alter the emissions system of the vehicle. MPT will not shut off check engine lights caused by non-emissions compliant parts installed.

I have had the pleasure working with Mike from MPT for the last tuning period. Mike worked with me for about the course of a month or so. The period was longer because we worked though some issues with my flex fuel/91 tune. The issues were never really noticed or felt in my end but because of Mike's experience he was able to correct it and make it run beautifully. Honestly this is the best money I have spent on the truck. It drives so much better. Throttle response is like that of a cable driven throttle body. It's faster and feels stronger. I actually feel like I am driving a truck with a personality. The 5.4 was never a powerhouse however this tune from MPT makes it the absolute best it can be. I'm extremely happy with the outcome and the patience from MPT, definitely recommend them.

Great Customer Service

I ordered the 87 performance/street for my 09 F150. Initially, there were quite a few things I wanted changed in the first tune I received. Mike answered all of my concerns and explained in great detail about what could be altered. My truck is more limited on what can be changed due to how Ford designed the O9-10 F150's. Nonetheless, after a few revisions, I am pretty happy with the latest tune. There are still a couple of things that I'd like changed, but it's so much more fun to drive! I love how it downshifts in a sporty way when coming to a stop. It seems like the TC lockup is behaving a little weird and it goes into 6th a little later than I'd like. My gas mileage has declined because of this on the latest revision, but it's still way more fun to drive. I appreciated how I received a desire to make the tune more to my liking. To me, you can't beat that kind of customer service.

I purchased custom tunes for my 2010 Ford Raptor 5.4L. The performance tune has been great. Big difference in throttle response and the shift points are much improved. Would definitely recommend MPT to anyone looking for a custom tune.

Q: ok, so I have a 2010 f150 xlt 5.4... I purchased the sct tuner with tow and octane options, I also added on a injen cai, throttle body spacer and magnaflow catback. I don't really plan on doing too much more anytime soon motor wise, However I def. want to add a custom Performance tune, Im not too "tune" savvy so I was wondering what your recommendation would be for said tune, and how easy it would be to install it? as well as the likelihood of it frying my comp system in the truck, I have hear a few horror stories, but I assume its from people buying garbage tunes and improperly installing them. PS 407 is my old stomping grounds so would def. like to do business with you guys.. Thanks.... Shake er eas.

A: We offer a performance tune for your vehicle, so you are off to a good start there. You will want to pick 93 octance for it, as that is the octane we recommend with all of our tunes to get the most out of them. The choice that really comes down to you is the transmission setup. Race is the firmest and most aggressive shifting we offer. However, it can sometimes be too much for some customers and if you are concerned about that, we suggest going with the Street setting. It is easily the most popular of the choices and is still firm, while not being the most aggressive.

Installing tunes takes just a few minutes and we supply directions on how to do it. It is quite simple and just in case you have any issue, you can always call us for tech support.

The likelihood of you damaging your vehicle's computer module is extremely slim. SCT's programmers and software is top notch and we come across very few issues with it. There is a reason we work with them almost entirely.

Q: ok so when purchasing the tune, with all the mods I added, catback cai, TB spacer, and sct programmer, do I choose heavy mod tune, or one of the other options??

A: For those modifications, you do not have to. Those are basic modifications.

For the heavy mods add-on, here is a list of example items that require extra time to create custom tunes and also require additional data logs:

-After market or not the original injectors
-After market or not the original mass air flow sensor
-Aggressive aftermarket cam shaft
-Engine swap without the donor engine's pcm.

Q: I purchased a SCT ITSX/STX wireless tuner from Amazon , but I would like to purchase a custom tune. Do you all provide custom tunes, even if the tuner was purchased from another vendor? I have a K/N CAI air filter and I'm on unsure if the preloaded tune compensates for that.

A: Yes, tunes can be purchased for any SCT device made since 2009 that accepts custom tune files, no matter who it was original purchased from.
