Whether you are using an aftermarket radiator or not these thermostats will provide the best possible coolant temps and heat dissipation from your setup along with reduced warm up times and better cold weather performance when compared to a t-stat with holes drilled in the diaphragm. We believe the 170 opening temp is the ideal balance for high performance engines, providing high flow to your radiator by mid-180 temps while still maintaining a good level of all season performance. With proper fan settings your cruising temps in cool weather will be in the 170s and in hot weather the 180s, giving those running high levels of timing and/or boost added protection against engine damaging detonation as well as maximum power output.
2017-up F150 3.5L ECOBOOST APPLICATIONS
This thermostat will provide the best possible heat dissipation from your setup and even deliver better overall performance than our competitor's 160° thermostats. Reische believes the 170° opening temp is the ideal balance for high performance engines, providing high flow to your radiator by mid-180 temps while still providing good all season performance. With proper fan settings your coolant temps in cool weather will be in the 170s and in hot weather the 180s, giving those running high levels of timing and/or boost added protection against engine-damaging detonation as well as maximum hp.
Tuning
To fully take advantage of this upgrade the PCM/ECU will need to be calibrated with an MPT tune. If you already have an MPT Tune, simply submit a new MPT Tune Form telling us what you have installed and your invoice number for the thermostat purchase. Please allow three business days for tunes to be built/updated.
All Reische Performance thermostats are backed by a 5 YEAR WARRANTY.
The Reische 1st Generation FORD-50 is currently being copied by competitors. The primary drawback of this design was that customers commonly over-tighten the thermostat housing upon installation. This usually results in damage to the gasket, or in some cases, the thermostat wedging in one side and tilting out of position. If this occurs coolant may be able to go around the thermostat and, in cooler weather, this will result in a P0128 (low coolant temp) code and/or longer warm-up times. Code P0128 is for Engine Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature. It means that the PCM has determined that the engine coolant temperature is consistently running below thermostat regulating temperature. In other words, the engine is running cooler than it should.
If you have thrown this code we first recommend replacing the gasket and reinstalling the thermostat, just lightly snug the housing bolts (around 40 in/lbs) but do not tighten the housing down completely. The gasket can be replaced with a Stant 27282, Gates 33619 or Duralast/Felpro 35710 but never reinstall an O-ring with the older v1 style of thermostat. Be sure the lip of the gasket faces up (right) and if reinstallation of the thermostat does not resolve this issue we recommend upgrading to the current v2 version of the Thermostat.
