Initial Setup of RTD+ and TDN App

  • Open TDN app.
  • Tap ACCEPT in regard to HP Tuners' Website Privacy Policy.
You may review this policy in full by selecting PRIVACY POLICY to open the document in your browser.
  • Allow permission for the app to access your phone's Bluetooth by tapping OK.
Your phone may prompt you to confirm that TDN is allowed to access Bluetooth. Grant access if prompted.
  • Tap OK to begin the setup of your RTD+.
  • Tap NEXT when the app indicates setup is to begin.
  • The TDN app prompts you to connect your RTD+ to your vehicle’s OBD-II port and turn the vehicle’s ignition on. Go ahead and do so.
  • Tap NEXT and wait for the STAT light on the front of the device to turn on.
  • When the STAT light is on solid, hold down the button on the front of the device until the BT light starts flashing.
  • Tap NEXT to have the app begin scanning for devices.
If a problem occurs while scanning for a device or synchronizing the device with the server, Tap RETRY to try again. If you continue to experience problems, tap the HELP & TIPS button for additional troubleshooting instructions.
  • Once the app has detected your device, it will attempt to establish a Bluetooth pairing with the device. If your phone prompts you to pair with the device, be sure to confirm.
  • Once paired with your RTD+, the app will sync with the server and download any required updates.
Make sure to keep your phone connected to the internet and near the device until complete. This may take several minutes.
  • When the sync process is finished, the app will indicate that setup is complete. Click DONE to exit the setup wizard.
  • Tap the TOOLS button and then, select RESYNC RTD+ Credits to load the credits to your RTD+.

With this completed and credits loaded to your RTD+, let's move on to registering your account and connecting to MPT via the TDN App.

Reading the Stock Tune File

This saves a copy of your vehicle’s stock file, which is needed to build your MPT Tune(s).

Before starting, make sure your car and phone both have a full battery, your internet connection is good, and your phone's Bluetooth is on.
If you have a tune loaded from another company, you must first return your vehicle to the stock tune.

  • Open TDN app on your phone.
  • Tap the FLASH button in the TDN's navigation bar.
  • On the Tunes screen, tap the READ VEHICLE button.
  • The app will prompt you to connect your RTD+ to the vehicle and turn the ignition to the ON position, but do not start the engine.
  • Tap OK to start the read process.
The process will take several minutes, with the length varying by the number of updates required for the RTD+ and the type of vehicle being scanned.
CAUTION: While the read is in process, do not start the vehicle’s engine, turn the ignition off, or unplug the RTD+. Keep your phone close to the RTD+ and connected to the Internet.
  • The first time a vehicle is read, a file folder for the vehicle will be added to the list at the top of the Tunes screen.
  • Find the vehicle you just read in the list and tap its name to open its folder. This screen contains a list of all the reads you have performed on the vehicle.
  • Verify that a green check icon appears to the left of the scan you just performed. This means it was uploaded to the server.
•Should the green checkmark not appear, confirm your phone is connected to the internet and you are still logged into your account. Then, tap the Sync Files button near the bottom of the screen.
  • With the stock file on the server, you can proceed to claiming your MPT Tunes!

Congratulations, your MPT Tune is installed.

Returning to the Stock Tune

The stock file that you saved from your vehicle will have a name that starts with "Read-". Files with this name can’t be loaded back to your vehicle. Once that file has been successfully transmitted to the TDN server, the name will be changed to begin with “Restore-“. Files named this way can be flashed if you wish to return the vehicle to the stock tune.

Before starting, make sure your car and phone both have a full battery, your internet connection is good, and your phone's Bluetooth is on.

  • Open TDN app on your phone.
  • Tap the FLASH button in the TDN's navigation bar, bringing up the Tunes screen.
  • Tap the vehicle to which you want to apply a tune. The list of tuning files for the selected vehicle will come up.
  • Tap the tune file that begins with "Restore-" to apply to the vehicle.
  • A popup that includes information about the selected file appears. Tap WRITE.
  • A second popup appears. It prompts you to connect your RTD+ to the vehicle and turn the ignition to the on position, but do not start the engine.
  • Tap OK to start the write process.
  • When the write process is finished, a Complete screen is displayed. Click OK.

Congratulations, your vehicle has been returned to the stock tune.
