Why do I need an SCT Unlock?

SCT BDX 40490 Tuning Devices come with 3 unlocks. When a tune is loaded onto a vehicle the device locks itself to that vehicle. This is referred to as "married" to a vehicle. When the vehicle is returned to stock or "unmarried" and used on another vehicle, that is an unlock.
If you have done this process 3 times, the SCT Tuner is out of unlocks.
SCT Livewire TS Tuner Unlock
SCT Livewire TS 5015P Tuning Devices come with 5 unlocks. When a tune is loaded onto a vehicle the device locks itself to that vehicle. This is referred to as "married" to a vehicle. When the vehicle is returned to stock or "unmarried" and used on another vehicle, that is an unlock.
If you have done this process 5 times, the SCT Tuner is out of unlocks.
SCT X4 Tuner Unlock
SCT X4 7015 Tuning Devices come with 5 unlocks. When a tune is loaded onto a vehicle the device locks itself to that vehicle. This is referred to as "married" to a vehicle. When the vehicle is returned to stock or "unmarried" and used on another vehicle, that is an unlock.
If you have done this process 5 times, the SCT Tuner is out of unlocks.
Locked to Another Vehicle
If the vehicle was not returned to stock the tuning device will remain locked to the vehicle. This is considered a VIN lock.
This SCT Tuner Unlock Service will remove a VIN Lock and Reset the number of allowed uses.

If your tuning device is married to another vehicle's VIN, this product will unlock the tuner to use on another vehicle.
SCT Tuner Reset
If the tuning device is locked to another vehicle's VIN, or the tuner has no unlocks remaining, this product will reset the tuner with additional unlocks.
